too dark for jazz is a video and sculpture installation that unfolds in an old, crumbling house from the 1950s, which is scheduled for demolition after the exhibition. Since the summer of 2025, I have been working with the house to make the exhibition’s three rooms function together within the universe I wish to present to the audience. The exhibition presents new sculptures in dialogue with home-developed Super 8 film and video works on tape.

too dark for jazz is an exploration and a reflection on a conflicting inner and outer life. Complete stillness and overwhelming chaos.

The installation is at its core a response to the accelerating pace of the contemporary life and how this can affect us as human beings. It is absurd, distorted, ugly, vulnerable and chaotic.
